Christ’s Church at Virginia Tech campus ministry

is a non-denominational Christian community of students who:

--believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God

--believe the Bible is the infallible Word of the one and only true God, and therefore embrace it as our first & final authority for faith & practice as it contains all the truth needed for salvation and living in Christ. (2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12)

--strive to put our faith in action, to keep growing in our knowledge and love for God, and to transform our world by living as Jesus lived. (James 2:14-26, Colossians 1:9-12, Romans 12:1-2)

Super Bowl Party

Don't forget to invite your friends to the Super Bowl Party this Sunday! This is not just for CCVT regulars. Everyone is welcome.

We're going to watch the game on our big screen at the campus house. The party starts at 6pm

We have some fun games planned for before the game, and during commercials. Do you have what it takes to win the CCVT Football Throw Challenge? ...No? That's OK, maybe you can win one of the other games we'll be playing. haha  At any rate, we'll have a good time trying.

And at halftime I have a little pep talk planned -- you know, a rousing halftime speech like coaches always make in the movies. (Well, in church lingo you might call it a devotional.)

Oh, and we'll also have plenty of delicious "football food" to enjoy during the game. If you would like to bring something to share, feel free -- we would be happy to help you eat it. But don't feel like you have to bring anything to come. We already have several generous people planning to bring some food to share, so we would be happy to have you as our guest.

Whether you are coming to watch the game, or just for the fun, food, and friends, we look forward to seeing you.

If you need directions, just look on the right side of your screen. We are right on the edge of campus by the dorms. Just 100 yards from the bus stop. We have parking if you drive.

See you 6pm this coming Sunday.

Hokie Hockey this Friday Night!

The day has almost arrived. Tomorrow, Friday, we carpool to Roanoke to watch VT's ice hockey team beat Maryland.

Earlier this week I promised to send you more details as we got closer to the day. Here they are:

Tickets are FREE with a valid Hokie Passport, and only $5 for anybody else!

We are meeting at the campus house at 6:30pm to carpool there.

While we are up in Roanoke we thought it would be fun to go to one of the restaurants up there that we don't have in the New River Valley -- a really good one with great food in generous servings at a great price. We're talking aboutCheddar's. After the game we'll stop by there on the way home and enjoy some appetizers, dessert, or if past experience is any indicator, a whole entree. So bring some cash, a credit card, or something to pay for your food, because I'm not sure they will accept Hokie Passport up there. (I know, feels like you're leaving the country, right?)

Oh, and don't forget to wear your Hokie apparel to cheer on our Hokie hockey team!

Be sure to invite your friends. Let's bring a big group of Hokie fans to support our home team!

See you 6:30pm this Friday at the campus house

Thanks.

What's Coming Up at CCVT

Welcome back to campus everybody! Hope you had a fantastic and restful Winter Break.

Just want to let you know what CCVT has in store for the first couple weeks of the new semester!

Wednesday, Jan. 21, 7:15pm -- Oasis Bible study -- We kick the semester off with our main weekly Bible study studying thru the gospel of Luke. This has been one of my favorite studies we've ever done!

Friday, Jan. 23, 6:30pm -- VT Ice Hockey vs. Maryland -- This is going to be so much fun! Meet at our campus house at 6:30 and we'll carpool to the game in Roanoke. Make sure you have your Hokie passport with you so you can get into the game for free. Those interested will hit Cheddar's (the restaurant) on the way home.

Sunday, Jan. 25, 10:30am -- Catch a ride to church -- Meet at the campus house to carpool to Belmont Christian Church. Contemporary style worship.

Sunday, Jan. 25, 7pm -- Women of the Word Bible study kicks off at the campus house.

Monday, Jan. 26, 7:15pm -- Men of God Bible study kicks off at the campus house.

Wednesday, Jan. 28, 7:15pm -- Oasis Bible study

Sunday, Feb. 1, 10:30am -- Carpool to church

Sunday, Feb. 1, 6pm -- Super Bowl Party -- complete with "football food," and we'll even have a little football throwing accuracy competition (participation optional)

I'll email you with the details of the ice hockey outing and the Super Bowl party a day or two before those, but we just wanted to let you know about them in advance so you can mark your calendar and invite your friends to join us.

If you weren't able to join us for the Bible studies or anything last semester, what better time than the beginning of a new semester to begin a new habit? All of the groups are very friendly and open to new people and we'd love to have you join us. Seriously. Come on out and give it a try. You'll never know what you were missing until you give it a try.

Hope to see you soon!
